Welcome to The Pixel Hangout — an independent home for gaming, technology, reviews and events.

The Pixel Hangout started life as a place connected to my content as ChronoPixelGaming, but it's now evolving into something a little different: a dedicated media outlet where I can go beyond livestreams and short-form content and spend more time talking about the games, technology and events I experience.

Expect hands-on reviews, first impressions, gaming features, technology coverage and stories from events — all written from the perspective of someone who genuinely plays the games, uses the hardware and attends the events being covered.

No corporate newsroom. No pretending to be something we're not.

Just games, tech and experiences worth talking about.

What We Cover

Gaming

Gaming remains at the heart of The Pixel Hangout.

Alongside reviews, you'll find first impressions, features and thoughts on games ranging from retro favourites to indie discoveries and major new releases.

Sometimes that might mean revisiting a game that helped define a generation. Other times it could be discovering something completely unexpected from a small independent developer.

If it's interesting to play or worth talking about, there's probably a place for it here.

Reviews & First Impressions

Not every game or piece of technology needs the same type of coverage.

Our reviews are based on hands-on experience, giving us the opportunity to properly explore how something plays, performs or works over time.

You'll also see First Look & Gameplay Impressions when we're exploring a game before we've had enough hands-on time for a full review. These articles will always make that distinction clear.

That means first impressions can later become full reviews once we've had the opportunity to properly put something through its paces.

Technology

Gaming doesn't stop at the game itself.

The Pixel Hangout will also cover the technology surrounding the experience — from gaming hardware and peripherals to streaming equipment, creator technology and other interesting gear that crosses our desk.

The aim is simple: talk about technology from the perspective of actually using it.

Events

Some of the best gaming stories happen away from the desk.

The Events section will cover conventions, gaming shows, creator events and other experiences from the gaming and technology world.

Where possible, we'll bring you the perspective of actually being there — the games we discover, the technology we get our hands on and the people we meet along the way.

The Person Behind The Pixel Hangout

The Pixel Hangout is created and run by ChronoPixelGaming, a gaming and technology content creator producing livestreams, videos and social content across multiple platforms.

ChronoPixelGaming remains my creator identity and the home of my livestreaming and video content, while The Pixel Hangout gives that coverage a dedicated written home. The two naturally work together.

A game discovered through The Pixel Hangout might later appear on stream. Something tested during a livestream might become a full written review. An event might produce videos, social posts and a longer article once I've had time to sit down and properly talk about the experience.

It's another way to tell the story rather than simply another place to repost the same content.

Independent, Personal Coverage

The Pixel Hangout isn't trying to become another enormous gaming news site.

The focus is on first-hand experiences, personality and useful coverage.

When something has been supplied by a developer, publisher, PR agency or brand for coverage, we'll make that clear. When an article is based on first impressions rather than hands-on experience, we'll make that clear too.

And if something doesn't work for us, we'll say so.

The goal is to build something readers can enjoy while keeping the personality that made me want to talk about games in the first place.
